We gather information from feedback and other comments sent us by our information seekers, supporters, donors, sponsors, members, SAS Alumni and prospective applicants for scholarship assistance. Still, we just barely scratch the surface. If you have a question we have not anticipated please bring it to our attention and we will promptly research it and get back to you with the best answer. What are the basic requirements to apply for scholarship assistance to attend SAS high school?

There are two (2) basic requirements:

1.  That the 8th grader is academically strong, bright, positively self-motivated toward getting a high school education at SAS, and has maintained a grade point average of 85% (percent) or higher throughout his or her elementary school education.

2.  That the 8th grader comes from a very poor or indigent family. "Poor" in this context is defined as making and subsisting on less than $1167 USD a year, or less than PhP50,000 (Philippine pesos) a year. We understand that the exchange rates will fluctuate. The cut-off income level is PhP50,000.

Who is the "Face" of SAS Ai, Inc. locally in Tagudin, in and around the SAS campus?

The very able,  SAS Ai Field Team headed by Mr Albert D Bunoan is the "face of SAS Ai" in Tagudin, the SAS campus and around the provinces of Ilocos Sur and La Union. Based locally in Tagudin, they cover as far north as the town of Santa Cruz and as far south as the town of Bangar, La Union. We have team members who work in metro-Manila and in San Juan, La Union. The team is comprised of professionals:  business entrepreneurs, operators and owners of businesses, Teachers, HR specialists, Sales & Mktg specialists, Financial Mgrs and Accountants. Most members have school-aged children attending elementary or high school. A couple of members have college-aged children. The Field Team's tasking includes screening of applicants, maintaining constant contact with the scholars and their parents, monitoring their progress in their school activities, providing needed assistance with school supplies and acting as the direct link to the International Corporate offices and SAS Ai officers.

Is my donation to the Scholarship Fund Tax Deductible?

Yes. In the United States the IRS recognizes SAS Ai, Inc. as a public charity organization under the 501(c)(3) tax code. Your donation to the Scholarship Fund is tax deductible if you live here in the United States. If you are a resident of Canada, you can only claim income earned in the United States as a source of your tax deductions. It would be best to seek the help of a Certified Public Accountant when filing taxes in Canada.

It is most important that you keep all your receipts. When using our secure online credit card acceptance portal (VISA, MC, DISC), you will be issued a receipt at the end of the transaction via email. Please make sure you specify a working email address when transacting a donation to the Scholarship Fund online.

Back home in Tagudin, I have a nephew who is very scholarly and who would like to attend SAS high school. Can I sponsor his education outright through the SAS Ai, Inc. scholarship program?

Your intention to help your nephew is most admirable. We need to know if you are helping your nephew because his family is very poor and cannot afford to send him to SAS high school? We also need to know if your intention is to take advantage of the tax deductibility of your donation? If your nephew is indeed scholarly and he comes from a poor family, he meets the two basic requirements of applying for assistance. Encourage him to apply and compete for assistance. Although your nephew's selection as a SAS Ai scholar cannot be guaranteed, he must nonetheless try. If after all applicants are screened, evaluated and your nephew makes it as a finalist, perhaps you can then consider asking SAS Ai, Inc. if you could sponsor a scholar (in this case your own nephew) through all four years of high school. In case your nephew is not selected, you can still send in your donation to the scholarship fund to help other needy kids and to help with the program. Your donation to the scholarship fund is tax deductible. It's a win-win for all.
